LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Minister of Finance Simplex Chithyola, alongside Minister of Labour Vitumbiko Mumba, held a thanksgiving rally in Dowa Mdolera to honor Member of Parliament Abel Kayembe for his victory in the party primaries.
Speaking during the rally, Finance Minister Chithyola assured the community of continued development projects and urged residents to prioritize agriculture as a key driver of economic growth.
He also pledged government support in helping locals access loans through the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF).
On his part, Labour Minister Vitumbiko Mumba announced that the government has allocated MK1 trillion specifically to support youth empowerment initiatives.
Mumba, who mentioned that Chithyola is his neighbor and Kayembe his close friend, emphasized the importance of working together to uplift local communities.
Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Central Region Chairperson Zebron Chilondola also addressed the gathering, stating that the party is focused on promoting unity ahead of upcoming elections.
He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to support elected leaders as part of its development agenda.

Speaking at the event, Kayembe commended the courage of ministers and MPs who openly aligned themselves with his vision and efforts, saying their presence reflected unity and a shared commitment to national development.
“I am deeply humbled by the unwavering support from my colleagues. It takes boldness and conviction to stand together publicly, and I applaud each one of them,” said Kayembe.
The rally drew a notable crowd and was graced by several high-profile political figures, including Francis Belekanyama, Benard Chitekwe, Ishmael Onani, Ulemu Chilapondwa, Arthur Msungitsa, Madalitso Kazombo, Monica Chang’anamuno, Vera Kamtukule, Jean Sendeza and Chambulanyina Jere.
Their presence was widely interpreted as a strong endorsement of Kayembe’s leadership and influence within the party.
