
LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Chief Resident Magistrate Court sitting in Lilongwe has found former Chief Executive Officer for Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) and businesswoman Dorothy Shonga with a case to answer.
In his ruling on Monday, December 5, 2022 High Court Judge Patrick Chirwa, sitting as Chief Resident Magistrate said the State has successfully made a case against the four.
This means that the accused will now enter defense.
The two together with former MERA public relations officer Patrick Maulidi and procurement officer Bright Mbewe were arrested in 2020 on accusations that they influenced MERA Internal Procurement and Disposal Committee to award a contract worth MK186 million.
