LONDON-(MaraviPost)-THE UK has overtaken Italy’s coronavirus death toll, according to new figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
There were 29,648 deaths involving Covid-19 in England and Wales up to April 24, ONS data shows.
The total is higher than Italy’s toll which stands at 29,079.
There were 5,890 coronavirus-related deaths in care homes in England and Wales in the period, according to the ONS figures.
It comes as the Government is under mounting pressure to relax the lockdown.
