CRFA set for Chipiku Premier League return

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Central region football governing body (CRFA) has said they are ready to patronize the MK15.5 million Chipiku Stores Premier division league in its return from a one week break.

The league will be returning with the 24 teams who are in three groups expected to play another set of seven games each of the first round.

After these games top four teams from each group will qualify to the next stage and they will be paired in two groups of six (6) teams each.

The best three teams from the two groups will make it into the final stage to battle it out for the championship, second position, third, Fourth,fifth and sixth.

The bottom two teams from the initial three groups will tussle it out to see who will be relegated and survive.

Bernard Chiwiriwiri Harawa, CRFA General Secretary, said on Thursday that as a committee they are ready to go with the final set of games of first round.

He said at the beginning of the season they encountered a number of challenges such as teams delaying to prepare players cards, venues, teams not cooperating to each other and officiation issues here and there.

“We are happy that the league returns into action this coming weekend after one week break,first sets of games were well patronized and I can say it was success despite some challenges,there was stiff competition as anticipated,”

“We also anticipate the same competition and even more in this final set as it will determine who goes into the next round hence let me appeal to the teams to cooperate,observe punctuality in the venues,discipline and abide by all the football rules and regulations”, Harawa narrated.

Teams conquered with the General Secretary Harawa,saying the first round was really marred with challenges among them are St Gabriel Medicals and Mchinji Boma Strikers FC.

Martin Mthetho Mkamanga, St Gabriel Medicals Coach, who are leading group B with 13 points par with second and third placed Mbabvi United and Silver Strikers Reserve FC cited officiation and injuries but vowed to keep working hard and earn promotion into the elite league as many players have returned.

Diof Makunganya, Mchinji Boma Strikers FC Coach, said despite starting badly in the first set of games they are optimistic of top four finish as Mchinji Boma Strikers FC.

He continued by saying, they played more away games in the first set and now that they will have to play more home games hence to use home ground advantage.

Mchinji Boma Strikers FC are on position 7 in group C with 6 points having won once,sharing spoils in 3 games and lost 3.

Airborne Rangers FC from the Parachute battalion and Extreme FC from Mchinji are the only teams who finished the first sets of games without a defeat, Rangers have 21 points from 7 games in group C.Madalo Mkwate, General Secretary of Airborne Rangers Football Club said their mission and goal this season is to return into the TNM Superleague which they were relegated seasons a go.

“Its a rejuvenated club with youthful players,we start from where we stopped,as Flying lions we continue soaring high till we get back into the elite league”, Mkwate.

The 2021 runners up Extreme FC lead group A with 17 points from 7 games having won 5 times, drew 2 games and yet to test a defeat in their group.Play Football MW are second with 11 points with 3 wins, 2 loses and 2 draws.

Area 36 based side Kawinga FC are third in the group with same number of points with Play Football (11) only goal difference are separating them on position four are Ngwanje FC from Ntchisi who have 10 points, position 5 are Mkanda Youth FC with 9 points, on sixth position are Dedza Young Soccer with 8 points. Kasungu Police and LUANAR occupy positions 7 and 8 respectively with 6 and 5 points.

So far 120 goals have been scored from 164 games played. Raymond Dennis Yawali of Airborne Rangers FC lead the chart of top goal scorers with 10 goals, former Blue Eagles FC Beston Jimu player who is now playing for Waliranji based side Extreme FC comes second with 9 goals.

Thomas Kashoni, Henry Muleleya both Airborne Rangers players have 4 goals and Steve Banda of Ekas Freight Wanderers FC.

Week 12 on day 18 Saturday 2nd July, 2022 Panthers FC will take on Dwangwa United FC at Lilongwe Community Ground, Mkanda Youth FC will battle it out with Play Football MW.

On Sunday July,2022 3,Dedza Young Soccer takes on Extreme FC at MACOF Ground, LUANAR FC play Kawinga FC the setting will be Nsaru Ground, Ngolowindo play Airborne Rangers FC at Salima Community Ground while Simbi FC will play Kamuzu Barracks RSV at the Mchinji Community Ground.
