LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Commissioner of Police responsible for Central West Region (CWR) Peter Chasweka has challenged prosecutors to assume a proactive advisory role in taming lawsuits against Police.
He was speaking at Central Region Training Centre (CRTC) in Lilongwe on June 2, 2022 to prosecutors drawn within the region.

Said Commissioner Chasweka: “You need to watch out on civil suits that derive from false imprisonment and malicious prosecutions. That tendency attracts unnecessary government expenditures”.
The Commissioner expounded on the observance of 48-hour rule on detained suspects, inspection of case files and coordination with other branches.
Said the Commissioner: “Every prosecutor should refrain from corruption because it is a cancer which destroys both the officer and economic development”.
Speaking earlier, the Regional Prosecutions Officer (RPO), Senior Superintendent Prescort Mwayiulipo implored the prosecutors to surpass the conviction output levels attained during 2021.
Said RPO Mwayiulipo: “Furthermore, allow me to thank management for providing a motor vehicle (Toyota Land Cruiser) registration number MP 2647. This asset will greatly improve the Prosecution service delivery”.
The Regional Criminal Investigations Officer, Superintendent Oscar Nkhoma and the Regional Traffic Inspector Mwisho Mvula made presentations on crime and traffic cases respectively.
According to the RPO, the meeting has equipped participants with advanced prosecutorial skills.
