LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The 2022 TNM Super League runners up Blue Eagles FC on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 donated assorted items to Cyclone Freddy Survivors at Kapeni Camp in Blantyre’s Soche township.
The donated items including kitchen utensils, sugar, soap, maize flour just to mention but a few worth over MK1 million.
Speaking after the donation, Gift Likoswe the club’s vice General Secretary said the little contribution made will obviously make a huge difference to the beneficiaries.
“The event was important in a sense that we as Police Officers serve people, hence we don’t work in isolation. So this was one way of being with the people we serve in their hour of dire need”, said Likoswe.
Blue Eagles donation comes barely days after the Super League of Malawi (SULOM) also made a donation worth MK19 million in which the 16 TNM Super League teams contributed and the Eagles were not exceptional.
After the donation event, the Policemen went straight to Chiwembe Stadium where the team defeated Mighty Tigers FC 2-3 in an testing match ahead of the kick-off of the 2023 season on April 15, 2023.
Tonic Viyuyi, former Ntopwa United FC attacker, Hendrix Misinde and defender Ian Chinyama were on target for the Area 30 based outfit.
Trouble Kajani formerly of Rumphi United FC scored a brace for Mighty Tigers FC.
