LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-It never rained but poured for Dedza Young Soccer football club, the team which was relegated from the TNM Super League in the 2015 season after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Epac at Civo Stadium has also been relegated from the Chipiku league.
Despite efforts to bring the team back to the elite league for years now, the stint was not achieved as the team faces numerous problems including finances.
On Wednesday the team shared spoils 2-2 against Mitundu Baptist at St. Louis High School ground in Dedza.
It was a must-win encounter for Young Soccer so they escaped the chop but the results went the other way around.
The visitors were the first to score in the 16th minute of the first half through Henderson Banda before the home team equalized at the end of the first half courtesy of Kondwani Damiano. The half ended with the two teams tied at 1-1.
In the second half, Dedza Young Soccer took a lead through Gerald Moses in the 58th minute which brought joy and excitement to the home fans.
However, their celebration was short-lived as the visitors pulled parity in the 79th minute through Henderson Banda.
With the result, it is now confirmed that Dedza Young Soccer will finish bottom of Group C even if they win their last game, which will result in their relegation from the Central Region Chipiku Premier division league and their playing in division one next season. The Dedza-based outfit has 9 points from 13 games played thus far.
League leaders Ntcheu Warriors have 13 points from 14 games they have played thus far while Mitundu Baptist are dwelling on position 2.
Reacting to this Chairman of the team Blessings Shawa said this is sad and pitiful to the team which has been in the premier division for over a decade.
He has since appealed for cooperation and coordination amongst the people of Dedza for the team to come up in the league.
