DEDZA-(MaraviPost)-In a quest to ensure smooth operations in the ongoing NEEF loans, a Dedza based Non Governmental Organization Youth Initiative for Community Development (Yicod) has challenged community members in the district to be vigilant in taking duty bearers to task over any alleged misconduct in the program.
The organization’s communications and advocacy officer Charity Manondo made the sentiments amid growing fears that the program may continue benefiting politically connected individuals as it has been over the years.
Speaking after an inception meeting with Area Development Committee (ADC) members from the area of senior chief Tambala, Manondo said the organization has since rolled out a one year project which will among others fight for the inclusion of people with disabilities benefiting from the program.
“We have come in with our project to among other things see that communities have the ability to take to task all duty bearers when they suspect any dubious action in the exercise. We will also make sure that people with disabilities are given access to the loans,” said Manondo.
According to Manondo, the project will also empower young people and women with knowledge and ability to have equitable access to NEEF loans.
With a 25 000 Euros Tilitonse funded project, Yicod is set to reach out to two areas of senior chief Tambala and Kachere.
