LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Deputy Minister of Health,Halima Daudi has called upon religious leaders to take part in disseminating information about Fistula.
Daudi made the call on Friday, June 23, 2023 during the World fistula commemoration day in Ntchisi.
Daudi observes that religious leaders engages various people everyday hence the role to play in reducing stigma towards fistula patients.
She further said that, everyone has a role in making sure that fistula patients are well taken care of.
“Be a religious leader, politician or any other person, Fistula disease need us all,” said Daudi.

She said government aims at ending Fistula by 2030.
Pastor Fadwell Bauleni for World Healing Ministries said became an ambassador after discovering that his church members were stigmatized.
Bauleni discloses that the Ministry has managed to get 75 patients to Bwaira Fistula care center all the way from Mulanje with the funding from the center.
He applauded the center for getting him three bicycles which he uses in getting patients in his community to the hospital.
On his part UNFPA representative Ezizgeldi Hellonow said they will keep on supporting government with funds to end Fistula by 2030.
Hellonow said they believe to reduce fistula to zero through the joint effort.
The commemoration day was under the theme, “20 years on progress but not enough act now to end Fistula“.
