Malawi’s Independence Day is ?on July 6th, 2017?. Dubbed the capital of Malawians in the US, South Bend Indiana, is home to most of Malawi’s Diaspora population in the US; it is ready to match the celebrations fare their counterparts in Washington D.C and Seattle had last week end marking the occasion of our 53rd year of Independence from the Brits.

Malawians in the US, South Bend, Indian will host their annual Independence Day events to commemorate Malawi’s 53rd Independence Day celebrations on the weekend of ?July 8 – July 9.?

The Independence Day party will take place at Century Center downtown South Bend on Saturday ?July 8th from 1pm-11pm?.

It is a family event and I’m told advance tickets are for grabs at $20 per head; and $25 at the door. The price for children is $5.

Malawi Musicians Tay Grin and Zani Challe, (coming from Malawi), will perform alongside Jay Stranger and Kondwani Kabwila, our local Malawian musicians who live in South Bend.

?On Sunday July 9th? a special Church service will be held ?from 11:30am-1pm? at the Winners Praise Center.

The church service will be followed by the annual “bring and braai” family picnic that will take place at Prickett Marina Park 13108 E. Jefferson Blvd?., from 2pm-8pm? The organizers promise it will lots of fun for the whole family.

All Malawians and Neighbors are invited!!
