Embattled Malawi speaker Richard Msowoya is said to have been involved in car accident where he was driving his official car and failed to yield to a bicyclist.
However the facts get muddled depending on whose side you are ON. His supporters claim that the speaker then stopped and took the victim to the hospital and he got treated and the speaker responsibly filed a police report.
On the other hand DPP supporters who have been vying for his head since he started taking the UDF, MPs crossing over to DPP matter seriously, claim that the person who was hit by the Speaker is dead. They also claim the Speaker did not stop to assist the bicyclist. Instead the Speaker Msowoya run from the accident and his damaged car has been seen in the north showing the effects of the accident.
The Maravi Post has reached out to the Police stating that Malawians need to get a clear picture of what happened as this is a matter of national importance. We have yet to get clarification from the Malawi Police which in this case is a shame as the facts need to be dissipated to Malawians to stop the rumors and the divisions that are fermenting.
The Malawi Congress party (MCP) have also not commented publicly on this matter as they get lambasted on social media as killers in the traditions of Kamuzu Banda.
According to some reports which we the Maravi post has also failed to confirm with Ministry of Information spokesperson, it is illegal for the speaker to drive himself in his official government Vehicle. Whatever the outcome, the Malawi Speaker is not having a good week.
