“Dont pull each other down”-Chakwera challenges Northern Region women

MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-President Lazarus Chakwera, on Monday urged women in the country to desist from a “pull her down” culture but instead cultivate a spirit of workingharmony to develop the country.

Chakwera made an appealat Mzuzu State Lodge in Mzuzu where he hosted Nkhata-Bay and Likoma Women Leaders.

The President therefore advised the women to take advantage of different forums, that are aimed at empowering women economically.

Chakwera emphasized that the country can develop faster if women are encouraged to attain higher education.

“You educate a woman, you educate the nation. Malawi can develop faster if we empower our girls and women,” he said.

He also encouraged women to work together through cooperatives to help improve their lives.

In her remarks, Malawi Congress Party (MCP) First Deputy President who is also Speaker of National Assembly Catherine Gotani Hara hailed President Chakwera for showing a lot of commitment in uplifting the lives of women.
