DOWA-(MaraviPost)-Some residents around Chulu Primary School in the Kayembe area of Dowa District have reportedly assaulted teachers to force them to allow students who do not attend the school to participate in football matches.
One of the teachers at the school told Radio Alinafe Official that the incident occurred on Saturday, 22 November 2025, during a football match between Chulu Primary School and Mosokonezi.
The teacher explained that as the match was ongoing within the school premises, the assailants began pressuring Chulu teachers to intervene and help their children win the game.
When the teachers resisted, the assailants reportedly started beating them, injuring the arm of one teacher, who is currently receiving treatment at Mtengo Wanthenga Hospital.
Investigations indicate that the assaulted teachers are officially registered employees and come from the northern region.
Photographs circulating from the scene show students during the football match and one of the teachers who was assaulted.
The incident has raised concerns about safety and discipline within school activities, highlighting the need for authorities to ensure that school sports are conducted peacefully.
