The ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Government, on Saturday accused the Karonga Central legislature, Frank Mwenifumbo after denying to join the party and rejoined the Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) instead.
Speaking at a party function in Karonga, DPP Secretary General, Gridezer Jeffrey wa Jeffrey described AFORD as an outdated party.
She said AFORD will not be in Government, and said this is because AFORD is from the northern region, which has small population.
“Mwenifumbo decided to ruin his political career, by joining AFORD and not DPP,” Jeffrey wa Jeffrey said.
She said the people of the north should just support any ruling President, without looking the party; she said “no President will come from the north.”
The DPP Secretary General asked how Mwenifumbo and the AFORD team will rule the country, while the father and founder of AFORD, Chakufwa Chihana, failed.
However, Jeffrey, said the door is open to anyone who wants to join the ruling DPP.
Mwenifumbo, who is now the political giant in the north, laughed at Jeffrey wa Jeffrey’s remarks. He said his decision to join AFORD was because he wanted to suffer together with Malawians.
The vocal legislature, vowed to continue defending the welfare of Malawians, constitutionally. Meanwhile, a lot of people in the north, have decided to join AFORD because of Mwenifumbo
