Willard Mwangonde: abducts and defiles a 14yr old girl for 3 days

Karonga police confirmed to have launched a man hunt for Mwangonde and the arrest of the victim’s elder sister Josephine Mkandawire for aiding the suspect after being given cash.

“The victim told us that the suspect locked her up in a guesthouse room based at the Songwe border post, almost 45 kilometres from the town for three days. She said the man has been sleeping with her for the said days with a support from her elder sister,” said the police.

Miriam Ikwangwa who is the district’s Women’s Forum executive director said they don’t believe that justice on the matter will take its course especially because of the financial and political status of the suspect.

“We are also handling the case but its future is not well known. However, we are doing our best to make sure that the suspect face the law despite his financial and political muscles,” said Ikwangwa.

According to Ikwangwa, her organization is worried with the increase of defilement cases in the district.

“Men in the district are moving with their zip open, they don’t look at the age of the person they want to sleep with,” she complained.

The suspect hails from Mpata, the area of village headman Mwawembe, Traditional Authority Kyungu in Karonga district.

In related development, a 56 year old Langston Kasimba of group village headman Mwakahomba in the area of Senior Chief Wasambo, is in Chilumba police custody for allegedly defiling his four year old stepdaughter.

Chilumba police have also confirmed the arrest of the district’s witchdoctor known as Mkandawire, for defiling a 14 year old standard eight girl who was a guardian of her sick mother at the suspect’s home.
