CHITIPA-(MaraviPost)-The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) pledged to support Chitipa united FC with MK2.6 million to be used among others in payment of duties for the bus that football club purchased.
Well Known business tycoon and DPP loyalist Leston Muli made the pledge at a campaign rally in Chitipa where he accompanied DPP vice president for the north Goodall Gondwe, northern regional governer Christopher Mzomera Ngwira and DPP secretary general Grezelder Geoffrey, among others.
Speaking at the rally, Muli said he would help the team so that the bus that Chitipa united FC is struggling to pay its duties at the songwe border will be covered and he asked the chairman for Chitipa united FC to collect the money from him together with footballs and jerseys.
“Chitipa football club represents this district and we are committed to help the football club wherever possible, so the bus will soon be here and I ask the chairman to come to our office to collect footballs and jerseys, ” said Muli.
Muli then pledged to support the cause with MK1.1 million, while DPP treasure general who is also minister for health Jappie Mhango pledged MK1 million, and DPP member of parliament for Nkhatabay Central Symon Vuwa kaunda pledged five hundred thousand kwacha.
Speaking in an interview, chairman for Chitipa united FC, Bright Kainga said that they are very happy with the fund that will be given by DPP and he made a plea to everyone to help the team.
“We are very happy about the money and its our plea to everyone to help this team, But as of now we have not received any money, ” said Kainga.
In her speech at the rally, DPP secretary general who is also the Deputy Minister of local government and Rural Development Grezelder Jeffrey pleaded with the people of Chitipa to vote for President Arthur Peter Muntharika and the DPP government saying it is the right way to development.
The Democratic Progressive Party has intensified campaign in the northern region in its quest for re-election in the forthcoming fresh presidential elections on 23rd June.
