BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-E-Nyasa Solar and Gas Limited has embarked on a mission to revolutionize cooking in the country with the launch of its gas movement campaign.
The initiative aims to promote the use of gas and gas-aided cooking equipment, tackling misconceptions that gas is only for the elite and hazardous to use.
Speaking at a media briefing in Blantyre on Wednesday, the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Eric Ngomwa emphasized the need for a shift away from charcoal, which has become increasingly expensive and detrimental to the environment.
“It is time to move beyond charcoal and adopt a cleaner, more sustainable option,” he urged.
Ngomwa said to make gas accessible to all, E-Nyasa Solar and Gas Limited plans to implement strategies that cater to low-income households.
On his part, the company’s marketing manager, Paul Nthala, highlighted the growing demand for gas, with a notable increase of 2.2 million tons in usage over the past year.
Said Nthala:”There has been a significant surge in gas adoption.
We are committed to building on this momentum and making gas a norm in Malawian households, ultimately reducing our carbon footprint and preserving the ecosystem.”
E-Nyasa Solar and Gas Limited was established in 2019 to provide high-quality renewable energy products and services to individuals and organisations in Malawi.
Since its establishment, the Blantyre-based company has increased its capacity to power society, taking part in several projects for the upkeep of power plants as well as renewable energy (PV Solar Plant and LPG).
