LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)– Blue Eagles head coach Gerald Phiri Snr expects a tough encounter against their Lilongwe rivals Silver Strikers the central bankers in Today’s TNM Super League game at Nankhaka stadium.
Eagles who thumped Chitipa United by four goals to nil last weekend at the same venue are looking forward to maintain their winning ways after a bad start of the season.
Gerald Phiri Snr said, “If you want to be the best and compete in the league we have to beat best teams like Silver”.
The area 30 outfit are currently on position 10 on the log table with nine (9) points from eight (8) games while the central bankers holds second position with 17 points from the same number of games.
In 2019 season Eagles had lions share of points over Silver as they managed to get four out of six maximum points in two games of that season.
The cops won by two goals to one at Nakhaka in the first round game both goals were scored by Foster Biton while Micheal Thete scored the lone goal for Silver Strikers.
Second round Silver held Eagles at Silver Stadium to a one all draw.
Meanwhile Gerald Phiri Snr is shocked with the demise of Raphael Nasimba who was the Flames and Nyasa Big Bullets chief supporter,
Phiri described Nasimba as a person who did not have a selfish habit as he could advise players regardless the team he was supporting.
‘He welcomed and assisted me when I was at Bullets as a coach, we have lost a person who helped in Malawi football”, he said.
