Eagles plunk Tigers eyes in TNM Super League

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Blue Eagles FC plunged Tigers eyes at Nankhaka Stadium on Saturday, August 26, 2023 after a 3-1 victory to gain back their winning ways.

The visitors were the first to score at 13th minute through Precious Chipungu from Martin Msewa assist and the wounded Eagles kept on flapping their wings hard in search of an equaliser.

Richard Rapson leveled the matters at 25th minute after receiving a long pass from Ian Chinyama.

At the recess the matter was at par 1-1.Second half, Blue Eagles FC started on a high note as they pressed hard keeping the play in Tigers half.

Their effort paid dividend at 55th minute as Steve Banda who was handed his debut by gaffer Eliah Kananji scored the second goal capitalizing on Innocent Nyasulu’ blunder who failed to clear the back pass ball by defender Masiya Banda.

As the match matured substitute Chikondi Mvula came in with another goal for Eagles after a good delivery by Schumacher Kuwali at 75th minute.

At 86th minute Tigers had chances to reduce the arrears as they were awarded a penalty which goalkeeper Chakonda Majanga saved from Precious Chipungu.

The penalty came in after Wonder Jereman brought down Trouble Kajani in the 18 yards box.

In the match only one yellow card was flushed to Martin Msewa for a foul on Richard Rapson and at the end of the match Steve Banda of Blue Eagles FC was voted Farmers Organization Limited player of the match in his debut game.

Blue Eagles FC won the match 3-1 after going through almost 9 games winless and the recent one being a 1-0 home defeat to Moyale Barracks FC which excited Eliah Kananji head coach of the Policemen.

“Let me applaud my boys for the fighting spirit as we came from behind. They worked hard despite conceding early. The win today is the big answer to the Malawi Police High Command who held a fruitful meeting with the team. I believe we are now back to our winning formula”, said Kananji.

Christopher Nyambose, Mighty Tigers FC Coach who defeated Dedza Dynamos FC 2-0 at home in Blantyre courtesy of Precious Chipungu and Precious Chiudza acknowledged the defeat and congratulated his opponents.

Nyambose described the defeat as sad saying it will have a negative impact on the table.

With the win Blue Eagles FC have now moved away from relegation zone and sits on position 12 with 20 points from 19 games while Tigers FC are on 13th with 18 points from 19 games as well.

Meanwhile Chitipa United FC displaced the defending Champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets FC on the summit after a 1-0 win over Ekwendeni Hammers FC at Karonga Stadium.

The Lion’s fine run of form in the 2023 TNM Superleague continued as Ramadan Ntafu’ spot kick at 37th minute of the game earned them the top spot on the table.

Chitipa United FC have managed to bang 36 points from 19 games and they are above with 2 points over defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets who have 34 points from 17 games.

The victory excited head Coach McDonald Mtetemera.

“Whether we are on top for hours or days but I am excited with this. As Chitipa United FC we will maintain our positive kind of approach. My boys are playing according to the instructions hence the results”, Mtetemera said.

Karonga United FC also defeated Kamuzu Barracks FC 2-1 away at Kasungu Stadium.

The scorers for Karonga included Elie Kayombo through penalty at 12th minute and Nanison Mbewe at 61st minute while Zelliat Nkhoma scored for the Soldiers.
