Egyptian medicines to flood Malawi market as Chakwera receives Credential letters from two envoys

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-President Lazarus Chakwera on Monday, September 15, 2025 received Letters of Credentials from two residential diplomats at Kamuzu Palace in the capital Lilongwe.

The envoys who presented their letters including Rasha Hamday Hussein from the Arab Republic of Egypt; and Daniel Aristi Gaztelumendi, Ambassador Designate of the delegation of the European Union (EU).

Addressing the press after the presentation, Rasha Hamday Hussein from Egypt said the two nations discussed many areas of cooperation on how to boost the bilateral relations between the two countries, “and we have agreed to work more in the areas of infrastructure, energy, agriculture and health.”

“The first task will be to register the Egyptian medicine in Malawi market and to allow the Egyptian medicine to enter the market, and also to cooperate in the fields of agriculture, health, and infrastructure,” she said.

Envoy Hussein adds, “Many projects may be dams, roads and bridges, and also in the area of health, there will be training programs Inshallah

“We are looking forward to be successful in my mission to boost the bilateral relations and to enhance the cooperation between the two countries”.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Nancy Tembo said Malawi and Egypt have agreed to share notes in the areas of health, energy, military cooperation, as well as irrigation farming expertise.

“We already have a very cordial relationship between the people of Malawi and Egypt but we want to take a step further in the areas such as agriculture, mining, military cooperation and irrigation farming,” said Tembo.

Since coming into office in the year 2020, the Chakwera led administration has established strong bilateral ties with alot of countries to help Malawi advance it’s interests, build mutual understanding, and create opportunities for collaboration.
