LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Newly appointed Indian High Commissioner to Malawi, Amararam Gujar, has emphasized the importance of unity between Malawians and the Indian community in the country.
Speaking during the 79th Indian Independence Day celebrations in Lilongwe, Gujar called for continued peaceful coexistence to foster economic development between the two nations.
Gujar highlighted the shared history of India and Malawi as former British colonies, stressing that collaboration and mutual understanding can benefit both countries.
“As we celebrate our independence, I just want to ask for this peaceful coexistence to continue so that it can spur economic development of the two nations,” he said.
Lilongwe City Council Director of Administration, Musa Mwale, echoed Gujar’s sentiments, urging the Indian community to continue partnering with Malawians in business and humanitarian endeavors.
Mwale emphasized that such collaborations would assist the government’s efforts to drive economic growth.
The call for unity and cooperation comes as a timely reminder of the potential benefits of strengthened ties between Malawi and India.
As the Indian community in Malawi continues to play a significant role in the country’s economic landscape, Gujar’s appeal for unity is expected to foster greater collaboration and mutual benefit.
