BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-One of the country’s renowned private universities, Exploits University on Friday April April 29, 2022, awarded Prophet Shepherd Bushiri of Enlighten Christian Gathering (ECG) Church with an honorary doctorate degree.
The event took place at the magnificent Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in the capital city Lillongwe where the university also graduated over 600 students from various programmes of study.
The development means Prophet Bushiri will now be called Dr. Bushiri.
Bushiri confirmed of the development in a statement posted on his official facebook page seen by Maravi Post.
He wrote, “I am so delighted to inform you all that Exploits University, one of renowned universities in Malawi, has conferred on me an honorary doctorate degree, a recognition for outstanding humanitarian works in Malawi and beyond.
“Join me in celebrating this remarkable recognition.”
Bushiri is one of the few country’s prophets who have been seen up and down busy reaching out people who were affected by two cyclones (Ana, Gombe) in the lower Shire districts with several humanitarian assistance.
In the education sector, Bushiri unveiled Shepherd Bushiri Bursary which is expected to help 5,000 underprivileged students in secondary and universities both in private and public schools.
He also owns Shepherd Bushiri Foundation, a charitable organization which helps in charity works such as construction of school blocks and church buildings.
