ZOMBA-(MaraviPost)-When Malawians voted for Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) on September 16, 2025, their hope was that it has changed and will do things differently this time around.

Sadly that’s not the case. The old DPP of corrupt blood is back. And this time around it has taken a dangerous route as early as it is

Information confirmed by the party’s executive is that some cadets including cabinet ministers have gone on exertion trail, demanding money from top government officials especially directors, chief executives and principal secretaries.

Information in our hands can reveal that one cabinet minister who has been moved from their original ministry they were initially appointed on, has recruited several vocal cadets on social media and has been demanding money amounting to MK50 million from public officers to have their jobs protected.

The cadets are targeting officers who are deemed or considered pro Malawi Congress Party (MCP) or are alleged to have connections with MCP.

In our following story, we will reveal names of the cabinet minister and the cadets, who apart from extortion, have also started attacking other party officers especially the vice president and top cabinet ministers considered as threats to their 2030 plans.

The minister in question has been declaring that they would content as presidential candidate in 2030 and has formed a team of cadets who are going around extorting money in the name of the party.

In one incident, based on evidence in our possession, the minister extorted one billion kwacha from a former cabinet minister during MCP regime on the promise that they will be protected from prosecution.

“If there are no arrests of top MCP officials or former cabinet ministers and government officials is because this minister together with others including several cadets have been pocketing money.

“They are being protected from arrests. In some instances, this minister has been the one leaking information of impending arrests to MCP which has complicated the operation by Malawi police and ACB”, divulged our source.

We are yet to see if President Peter Mutharika will act on these reports as it is revealed that he was duly informed of the same.
