Exposed! Western capitals agitate for regime change: Push Peter Mutharika to fulfil LGBTIQA agenda

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-There are fresh revelations that some of Malawi’s development partners from the West have been conniving with several local stakeholders including the opposition to effect regime change after failing to push through LGBTIQ agenda during President Lazarus Chakwera’s tenure.

Soon after taking office in 2020, Chakwera was thronged by a host of emissaries from across the world seeking to impress their various agenda on his administration.

Among the most uncomfortable of these interactions were those held by Western diplomats who wanted to know if the new Malawi leader would be their surrogate in champions the rainbow agenda.

Rainbow agenda is a deliberate push for governments in developing countries to adopt Lesbian, Gays, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer and Asexual communities into policy formulation and implementation.

To date, Chakwera has given the movement a cold shoulder, a situation that has forced the West to start talking regime change with civil society, opposition parties and some traditional leaders.

A source who did not want to be named but has credible closeness to the matter explains how the West plans to fulfil their agenda.

“Having failed to remove him through demonstrations, they now want to project him as a leader who has rigged the election to stay in power.

“They want Malawians to believe that Chakwera is not wanted at all by his own people,” he reveals.

The West, through the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has funded the Institute of Public Opinion and Research (IPOR) to undertake a voter intention survey which aims at discrediting the Malawi President.

Adds the source, “It is likely they will want to make Malawians believe that Chakwera is a bad leader who should not be voted back on September 16. They are doing this so that when he wins there should be cries of vote rigging.

Afterwards the donors want to finance massive demonstrations and a court challenge in a hope that the country goes through a repeat of the 2019 election.”

After the 2019 elections, Malawians took to the streets in a marathon of protests calling for then Malawi Electoral Chair, Jane Ansah, to resign.

This coincided with a challenge in court lodged by Chakwera and late Saulos Klaus Chilima who sought nullification of election, a request that was granted by the court on February 3, 2020.

A fresh election was ordered and Chakwera beat Peter Mutharika to become the country’s 6th President.

The push by the donors for regime change has heightened over the past weeks with the introduction of Vitumbiko Mumba as Chakwera’s runningmate.

The donors are said to have made an assessment of all runningmates and they find the Chakwera, Mumba ticket impenetrable when it comes to LGBTIQA issues.

“Having failed to arm-twist Chakwera on the rainbow campaign, they have fast realized that Mumba is also a man with strong Christian values as such he won’t bend for worldly stuff like this.

“Their only option now is Mutharika who is a liberal,” says another source who works at the British High Commission.

IPOR is expected to release results of its survey this coming Friday, September 5 at a venue yet to be announced.
