The Malawian player won the 2004 and 2005 PSL titles, two Bob Save Super Bowls, the CAF African Cup Winners’ Cup, four Rothmans Cups, and the BP Top 8 Cup. He retired from professional football in 2006 after playing for Moroka Swallows for two seasons.

Russel was born in Zomba and started his professional career with Silver Strikers. Jomo Cosmos, a South African soccer team, signed him in 2003. The player spent four years with it and later joined Ajax Cape Town. IFK Norrkoping signed Russel in 2008. He represented Malawi in the 2020 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and scored two goals in the group stage. Several Malawian players have showcased their talents at AFCON. Frank relocated to South Africa in 2013 and has played for different PSL clubs since then. Bloemfontein Celtic signed him in 2013 and he almost won that season’s Absa Premiership Golden Boot award. In 2015, Frank moved to Lamontville Golden Arrows and scored four goals in a match against Mpumalanga Black Aces in 2016.

The Malawian forward later joined Bidvest Wits and helped it win the MTN8 and the Absa Premiership in his debut season. He played a key role in the Clever Boys’ victory in the 2017 Telkom Knockout Cup.
