BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-In a show of support for local governance, First Capital Bank (FCB) on Monday donated K15 million to the Malawi Local Government Association (MALGA) to facilitate its 19th Local Government Annual General Meeting(EGM).

The event, scheduled to take place from May 21 to 23, 2025, at Sunbird Nkopola in Mangochi, aims to bring together councillors to reflect on their achievements and challenges.

In an interview with journalists, FCB Head of Sales,Masiye Mazaza, emphasized the bank’s recognition of local councils’ crucial role in driving national development, which motivated the donation.

On his part,MALGA Executive Director Hadrod Mkandawire highlighted that the meeting will provide a valuable opportunity for councillors to assess their six-year tenure and chart a way forward.

Themed ‘Reflecting on the Recent Past and Taking Stock of Decentralisation and Local Development in Malawi: Looking to the future with renewed hope,’ the 19th Local Government Annual Meeting promises to be a significant platform for discussion and growth.
