LILONGWE Maravipost: Sosten Gwengwe, the Minister of Trade, and four other ministers are currently in talks with vendors about how to proceed with the price hike of secondhand bales.
While other vendors are waiting outside the Parliament gate for an answer, the five cabinet ministers are conversing with the vendors representatives inside Parliament premises.
The other ministers are Deputy Minister of Trade Owen Chomanika, Minister of Information Moses Kunkuyu, Deputy Minister of Health, and Minister of Local Government Richard Chimwendo Banda.
Lyson Ching’onga, a representative for vendors, stated that vendors that sell second-hand clothes, caps, dresses, just to mention a few, are experiencing daily price hikes.
According to Ching’onga, Chinese and Indian businessmen have come up with a way to steal from them.
According to him, the police called them and told them that the District Commissioner will handle the issue.
He said the Indians are fueling the issue by daring the vendors to report them to the Ministry of Trade, but they don’t care.
Meanwhile, the government is set to engage all those responsible for wholesale second-hand clothing shops.
