Blantyre, January 8, 2015: After one year break in 2014, football lovers have all reasons to smile following news that the Presidential Cup returns in February this year.
According to Football Association of Malawi-FAM’s 2015 football events calendar released Wednesday, the Presidential Cup will kick off at lower level on 7th February and the draw is scheduled to take place on 2nd February.
The launch and registration at lower level is expected to take place on January 19.
In 2014, the tournament was postponed because FAM diverted K22 million of the K60 million allocation towards the Flames’ expenses in the World cup qualifier against Nigeria.
“Conclusion of the presidential cup at lower level will be done on 28th March while draw for national level presidential cup shall be done on 31st March, 2015.

The 2015 football calendar further indicates that quarter finals would be held from 15 to 17 May while the semi-finals are slated for 30 and 31 May.
The finals would be played on 13th June at a venue to be communicated later.

After losing the 2011 presidential cup edition in the hands of Mighty Wanderers, the Salima based soldiers defied all odds at Civo Stadium, defeating Silver Strikers 9-8 in post match penalties to lift the 2013 presidential cup.
