Former Information Minister Kunkuyu formally arrested for inciting violence

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Congress Party Director of Campaign, Moses Kunkuyu, who presented himself before the police on Monday morning, has formally been arrested.

Kunkuyu’s lawyer George Jivason Kadzipatike disclosed that the former Information Minister is accused of proposing violence.

Kadzipatike added that Kunkuyu has now been sent to Kanengo Police Station.

“My client who is also MCP senior member is under arrest”, Kadzipatike said.

He added, “The police have ignored our argument that Hon Kunkuyu is immune from arrest because his committee, the International Relations Committee of Parliament, is in session and that when he reported to the police this morning, he was actually enroute to Parliament.”

Kunkuyu arrest comes barely two days after former Homeland Security Minister Ezekiel Ching’oma was picked by fiscal police.

Ching’oma has been taken to court to day for formal charges.
