LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Former Malawi President Peter Mutharika’s personal bodygaurd Norman Chisale wife, Evalista Chisale and 12 police officers were on Monday, July 13, 2020 charged with murder on Buleya Lule’s death.
Principal Magistrate Viva Nyimba therefore committed the case to High Court for full trial.
Magistrate Nyimba however denied the suspects bail arguing that the high court will decide of their fate once the case resumes.
The suspect have been sent to Maula prison for remand.
This is despite the suspects’ lawyer Lawyer Enock Chibwana objected remanding his clients to Maula requesting the court that they remain in police cell.
The court therefore dismissed the application and remanded them to Maula sine die and committed them to the High Court where they will be tried.
Magistrate Nyimba however reminded the suspects that they will apply for bail at high court.
He also reminded them of their rights to good food, medicine, legal counsel and to be treated fairly.
The court is yet to set a date for commencement of the case.
