CAPETOWN- (MaraviPost)-Former President Thabo Mbeki has admitted that unemployment and crime are genuine and serious concerns in South Africa.
He said blaming foreign nationals for the country’s economic and social problems is misguided.
Mbeki argued that the root causes of the country’s challenges lie elsewhere.
He warned against targeting immigrants as a solution to South Africa’s deep-seated problems.
While millions of South Africans are frustrated by job losses, illegal businesses, crime, and collapsing services in their own communities, Mbeki is once again urging people not to make the connection.
The former president’s remarks have reignited debate over whether his stance reflects political wisdom or a disconnect from the lived reality on the ground.
