In a surprise move, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) yesterday announced the reassignment of duties for its Director of Elections, Gladys Ganda, to Presidential Advisor.
The reassignment, done in accordance with the party’s constitution, has been praised by many within the party.
However, this publication has observed that senior members of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) are growing increasingly worried about the move, sparking speculation about their true intentions.
Sources close to the DPP have revealed that Ganda’s reassignment is a strategic move aimed at leveraging her expertise and experience in election management to inform the party’s presidential campaign strategy.
Ganda’s new role as Presidential Advisor is seen as a critical step towards consolidating the party’s position ahead of upcoming elections.
However, MCP supporters have expressed concern over Ganda’s reassignment, with some even questioning the DPP’s decision to move her from the Director of Elections position.
This has left many wondering why the MCP is so invested in the internal affairs of the DPP.
Speculation is rife that the MCP wants to use Ganda as their agent, but sources close to Ganda have dismissed this claim, stating that she is deeply committed to the DPP and will not betray the party’s trust. “Ganda loves DPP and won’t disappoint the party,” our source revealed. “She will save Peter Mutharika till he bounces back next year.”
The MCP’s interest in Ganda’s reassignment has raised eyebrows, with many viewing it as a desperate attempt to penetrate the DPP’s ranks.
However, the DPP remains unfazed, with insiders confident that their party’s internal affairs are secure.
“Ganda’s reassignment is a testament to the DPP’s commitment to strategic leadership and our preparations for the upcoming elections,” said a senior DPP official. “We will not be swayed by the MCP’s attempts to meddle in our internal affairs.”
As the political landscape continues to evolve, the DPP’s leadership restructuring and Ganda’s reassignment are seen as significant moves aimed at positioning the party for success in the face of emerging challenges and opportunities.
With Ganda at the helm as Presidential Advisor, the DPP is poised to navigate the complexities of the political landscape with renewed confidence and purpose.

In related developments, the DPP has announced plans to hold a series of regional rallies and meetings aimed at mobilizing support and energizing the party’s base.
The events are expected to feature high-profile speakers, including senior party leaders and elected officials.
As the opposition DPP continues to assert its dominance, the MCP is left grappling with the implications of Ganda’s reassignment.
With their attempts to penetrate the DPP’s ranks failing miserably, the MCP is left with no choice but to regroup and reassess their strategy.
In the meantime, the DPP remains focused on its mission to deliver effective leadership and governance to the people of Malawi.
With Ganda’s expertise and experience now at the forefront of the party’s presidential campaign strategy, the DPP is confident that it has the momentum and the leadership to succeed in the upcoming elections.
