LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The ten women’s football teams set to participate in this year’s Goshen Trust National Women’s Championship have received a boost from the sponsors.
The teams have all received beautiful playing kits from Goshen Trust ahead of the championship kick-off on Monday, May 13, 2024, at the Bingu National Stadium.
Goshen Trust unveiled the kits on Sunday at a ceremony held at the Golden Peacock House in Lilongwe.
Speaking at the function, Goshen Trust Public Relations Manager Aubrey Kusakala said their core value is to bring out the best players in Women’s football and see them shining in major tournaments like WAFCON and the World Cup.
“We saw how the Scorchers performed at the 2023 Cosafa Women’s Championship, so we want them to represent us well at continental and global levels, and this can only start at the club level, hence the sponsorship,” Kusakala said.
In her reaction, Chairperson for the National Women’s Football Association, Adellaide Migogo, said, “We are extremely happy and overwhelmed with the gesture from Goshen City, who have shown confidence in women’s football. This gesture is one of its kind in the history of women’s football, and it will motivate the girls to showcase what they have.
“We urge people from all walks of life to come and see what women’s football is all about and appreciate the talent we have in the country. They have watched the Scorchers playing on TV, but they need to come and see where the seed of the team comes from,” explains Migogo.
