LILONGWE -(MaraviPost)-The Blue Eagles Volleyball club has received a significant boost in their preparations for the African Zone 6 volleyball tournament scheduled for Maseru, Lesotho later this year.

Two companies, Greenwood Fuels Limited and Re-Star Trading, have generously contributed both funds and equipment to support the team’s journey.

Greenwood Fuels Limited has donated K500,000 and provided 10 volleyball balls, while Red-Star Trading has contributed MK2 million and supplied four sets of jerseys.

Commissioner of Police responsible for Reserve and Planning, Barbra Atsigah, expressed her gratitude for the timely donations.

She therefore called upon other stakeholders to follow suit, as there is still a substantial budget gap of MK18 million that needs to be filled.

Managing Director of Greenwood Fuels Limited Yowasi Valle, explained that they decided to make this donation after being approached by the club.

He noted that while many companies around the world heavily invest in football, they saw an opportunity to support volleyball and believed that their contribution would greatly aid the team’s preparations.

Valle expressed confidence that the team would represent them well in Lesotho.

Blue Eagles General Volley ball Club Secretary Bright Jambo conveyed his appreciation for the donations, emphasizing that they have boosted the players’ motivation as they continue to work hard in local tournaments.

He also expressed optimism that other companies would step in to help cover the remaining costs, including affiliation fees, accommodation, and airfare.

The Volleyball Zone 6 Senior Championship is scheduled to kick off on December 7th and conclude on December 17th, 2023.

The team is set to depart the country on December 2nd in preparation for the tournament.
