LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-As teams are at rest, soccer experts have urged teams, football players, and all the stakeholders to follow professional ways of handling transfers during this year’s players’ transfer window in Malawi. .
This follows poor handling of transfer deals for the past years now. In some instances, players have had contracts with different two or more teams and football players having different contracts with different expiry dates.
Speaking on Nkhoma Synod Radio inside the sport show “Tchutchutchu”, soccer analyst Maxwell Kachere said there is a need to follow the details kept by Football Association of Malawi (FAM) to reduce acts of fraud.
He said, “it has been very bad in the past to see two teams fighting for one player both of them claiming that it’s their footballer and that they have a contract with that particular footballer.
“Teams should start handling our transfers professionally. Teams should also start respecting players’ contracts. However, sometimes footballers should learn to read properly and think before signing any agreement.”
Mwelwa Gondwe, a football administrator has also advised all the stakeholders especially Football Association of Malawi (FAM) to be more vigilant to make sure that all transfer processes are done properly.
“Sometimes, transfers’ mistakes happen due to lack of good guidance from the football authorities on how certain transfers should be handled. We hope we will see the change this year.
“We do not want to see what has been happening in the past when we saw teams fighting because of one player. Some players cheat to one team that they are not contracted which in the end brings problems.”
The transfer window is opened during off season and closes towards the start of the new season.
It also opens during the first round break for the purpose of finishing the process of some remaining transfer deals.
