Heavy rains cut off Eastern Provinces from Lusaka, diversion route underway


LUSAKA-(MaraviPost)-Connectivity between Lusaka and Eastern provinces is expected to be restored before the day ends as a diversion route is being worked on by a team of officers from the Road Development Agency and Zambia National Service.

The cutting off of Eastern Province from Lusaka follows the washing away of culverts on the section of the Great East Road in Rufunsa, Sinjela area by heavy rains yesterday.

The heavy rains have caused significant damage to the road infrastructure, leaving the Eastern Province isolated from the capital city.

A team of officers from the Road Development Agency and Zambia National Service is working tirelessly to restore connectivity between Lusaka and Eastern provinces.

The diversion route is being worked on to allow traffic to flow while repairs are being made on the damaged section of the road.

The washed away culverts are a major concern, and efforts are being made to repair them as quickly as possible.

And works on the washed away section is expected to be done within three days.

The Road Development Agency and Zambia National Service are working together to ensure that the road is restored to its original state.

The restoration of the road is crucial for the transportation of goods and people between Lusaka and Eastern provinces.
