DURBAN-(MaraviPost)-In a bid to encourage chastity among ladies in society, South African church, Nazareth Baptist is administering and given certificates of virginity to female church members.
The church located at Ebuhleni, northern part of Durban disclosed that the free virginity test on ladies attending the church is given to those that are 18 years and above.
The test is usually conducted in the middle of every year and the certificates issued becomes invalid by the middle of the year coming when the next virginity test is conducted by the church again, Eagle reported.
Other reports suggest that ladies in the church eagerly anticipate the event every year.
During the annual exercise, Certificate of Virginity signed by the Leader of the Church and the specialist who carries out the test is awarded to the successful ones including a mark on the forehead.
The test for the 2022/2023 session was conducted this week and certificates were issued to the successful ladies.
Meanwhile, the virgins can be seen in a viral photo smiling while posing with their certificates.
In 2018, a group of United Nations agencies issued a joint statement calling for a ban on tests meant to assess the virginity of a girl or a woman.
According to World Congress of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) in Rio de Janeiro, the tests on virginity are both unscientific, and a violation of human rights.
