LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The country’s Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) on Tuesday clearly condemned the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) for intimidating Constitutional Court (ConCourt) judges against the nullification of the May 21, 2019 Presidential election result.
HRDC leader Timothy Mtambo told the news conference in the capital Lilongwe that the judges must not be intimidated.
He therefore assured the judges that the grouping will be on their side.
“Judges did what was supposed to be done on the electoral case. We are with them and they are not going to allow anybody to intimidate the judge,” assured Mtambo.
Mtambo further said the grouping will forces Member of Parliament (MPs) to pass electoral bill reforms as recommended by February 3, 2020 ConCourt ruling.
‘We are going to force MPs to pass the 59+1 law, which the members of Parliament failed to pass the bill in 2018. And now what they need is to see the voting which every member of Parliament will be mentioned the name and agree or not,”he said.
