“I repeat, my leadership isn’t for feat and will act on any corruption tendencies”-Mutharika shows support on PAC’s Amaryllis Hotel purchase probe

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-President Peter Mutharika has once again warned that he will act accordingly on any corruption tendencies in his leadership.

Mutharika says he is closely following the ongoing Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament’s probe on Amaryllis Hotel purchase.

The President adds, “The inquiry demonstrates the country’s commitment to transparency, accountability and the rule of law, emphasizing that oversight institutions must be allowed to operate without interference”.

He has also reaffirmed his stance against corruption, stressing that public office is a responsibility entrusted by Malawians and should not be used for personal gain.

“As I promised upon assuming office, I will not shield anyone involved in corruption. That promise remains unbroken,” warns the Malawi leader.

Mutharika further says the fact that the inquiry is taking place is proof of his administration’s resolve to let oversight institutions work without interference.

“I reiterate my government’s firm stance in the fight against corruption. This administration is not in office in order to feast. Public office is a sacred trust bestowed by the people of Malawi and any misuse of public resources or influence for personal gain is a serious betrayal of that trust,” warns Mutharika.

The coming week PAC will meet Attorney General (AG) Frank Mbeta on the same.
