THE PEOPLE’S ECONOMIC REVOLUTION: POWER TO THE DISTRICTS, PROSPERITY FOR ALL
Fellow Malawians,
For decades, our nation has been trapped in a cycle of poverty, hunger, and hopelessness. Today, 75% of Malawians live in poverty, over 6 million go hungry every year, and 95% of our people, especially the youth, are unemployed or underemployed. Meanwhile, economic growth lags below 2%, far behind our 3% population growth. Every year, more Malawians slip deeper into poverty.
This is not only an economic failure, it is a failure of leadership, vision, and justice.
A NEW VISION: POWER TO THE DISTRICTS
We will end this injustice. I will decentralize economic power completely. Every district will receive K100 billion annually. Resources will be taken directly from Capital Hill and delivered to the people. For the first time in our history, each district will control its own economic future.
This is not theory. This is action.
DELIVERING REAL RESULTS FOR THE PEOPLE
The 3rd Revolution is people-centered and we commit to deliver the following after victory 16 September 2025:
- Feed the Nation, Empower the Farmer
Subsidize fertilizer and farm inputs to end hunger and stabilize food prices.
Build irrigation schemes to secure food production, rain or shine.
Strengthen supply chains and value addition for domestic and export markets.
- Create Jobs, Build Rural Wealth
Establish agro-processing factories and small-scale manufacturing in every district.
Launch microfinance programs to support small businesses, women, and youth.
Equip our young people with vocational skills for jobs in agriculture, construction, and industry.
- Build Infrastructure for Growth
Construct feeder roads to connect farmers to markets and reduce transport costs.
Power rural Malawi with solar, biogas, and small-scale hydro energy.
- Improve Healthcare and Education
Modernize clinics, expand nutrition programs, and improve maternal and child health.
Build schools, train teachers, and promote literacy to equip our people for a better tomorrow.
- Ensure Good Governance and Accountability
Build capacity for district councils to plan, implement, and manage development.
Establish strict accountability and transparency systems to safeguard public funds.
CLEAR TIMELINES, STRONG DELIVERY
This revolution will begin immediately after our victory on 16 September 2025. The first K100 billion allocations will be included in the first national budget of my administration. District development plans will be publicly shared. Results will be monitored quarterly. And the people will be the watchdogs of their own development.
In five years, every district will be a hub of production, innovation, and opportunity.
FISCAL DISCIPLINE AND SUSTAINABLE GROWTH
We will match this bold decentralization with sound economic management:
Zero tolerance for corruption and wastage.
Transparent public procurement and fiscal discipline.
Strong partnerships with the private sector and international partners.
Strategic investments in renewable energy, food security, and manufacturing to grow our economy sustainably.
THE THIRD REVOLUTION BEGINS
This is the Third Revolution—Malawi’s final break from poverty, dependency, and broken promises. We will build a self-reliant economy, powered by the creativity and hard work of Malawians in every district.
No more waiting for change to trickle down from the top. Under my leadership, change will rise from the ground up, district by district, family by family.
