Independent Presidential aspirant Adil Chilungo urges Malawians to channel anger over hardships into votes

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Independent presidential aspirant Adil Chilungo has called on Malawians to turn their frustration over persistent hunger and economic hardships into motivation to vote wisely in the upcoming elections.

Speaking in an interview with Maravi Post on Friday, June 27, Chilungo criticized the current management of public fundslikening the use of Account Number One (the government’s central account) to a “national cake” that benefits only a few.

“If Malawians are angry enough about their suffering, they will vote for change, promising to prioritize affordable solutions to the fertilizer crisis by introducing organic fertilizers that have been successfully implemented in South Africa, Tanzania, and other countries,” said Chilungo.

He emphasized that he is running as an independent because he believes existing parties are focused on capitalism and not addressing the root causes of poverty.

Chilungo also advocated for expanding non-interest banking to make financial services more accessible and reduce the burden of high-interest loans on ordinary Malawians.

As an agricultural expert, he revealed plans to conduct outreach programs aimed at equipping farmers with better practices to boost productivity and food security.

“When I come to power, I will not appease anyone,My cabinet will have only 10 members,
and I will prioritize the use of Account Number One to benefit all Malawians.”Chilungo declared.

The country is scheduled to hold general elections on September 16 this year, during which voters will elect both the President and Members of Parliament under the 50+1 system, prompting some parties to pursue alliances.
