LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Former Reserve Bank (RBM) Governor Dalitso Kabambe on Friday, May 3, 2024 laid out a seven points plan that would develop Malawi if implemented.
Dr. Kabambe laid out the plans during a Business In-Detail Magazine (BIM) forum in the capital Lilongwe that brought together economic experts, entrepreneurs and business people to share insights on the operating environment and shaping the future of business.
According to the former RBM governor, for the country to turn around its economy, he proposed full scale re-organization and restructuring of the entire public service and letting the districts handle their own developments.
Kabambe stated that district resource base needs serious revamping; proposing a package of not less than MK100 billion for each district for a sustainably long period of time.
While proposing repositioning of bilateral and multilateral arrangements to maximize support from development partners, Kabambe also proposed the urgent need to root out corruption if all the plans are to be achieved.
“One of the key deterrents to Malawi’s development is corruption; Malawi cannot develop with rampant corruption. I therefore propose the prosecution of all known and reported cases,” he said.
