LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The country’s Islamic Justice Network (IJN) has accused President Lazarus Chakwera of hypocrisy for voting against Israel-Gaza war ceasefire in United Nation (UNs) Resolutions.
This comes as Chakwera plans to join Muslims in commemoration of Eid Mubarak slated for Thursday, April 11, 2024.
President Chakwera’s Tonse Alliance government voted against United Nations (UN)Human Rights council decision to adopt a resolution demanding accountability from Israel for Gaza genocide.
In an interview with Maravipost on Wednesday, IJN Executive Director Frank Jonam Chakwera’s act voting against cease fire in Gaza is hypocrisy of highest order.
Jonam observes that Chakwera made a decision on Gaza days after receiving a certificate of a good leadership from Israel which is “an act of double faced leader”.
Jonam said Chakwera should be ashamed as well of those who invited him for Eid prayer for the love of blood money as innocent children and women are being killed in the on going war.
He said in a report of the vote posted on the office of the UN high commissioner ‘s website shows that Malawi, Paraguay and United States voted against the resolution while eight countries namely Albania, Argentina,Burgaria,Cameroon, Georgia, Germany,Lithuania and Romania were absent.
Efforts to speak to the Minister of Information, Moses Kunkuyu proved futile as his phone went un answered.
