Israel Vows to Make Iran Pay Heavy Price After Drone Strike on Netanyahu’s Residence
By Twink Jones Gadama
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s private residence in Caesarea was struck by a Hezbollah drone from Lebanon on Saturday morning.
Israel has promptly blamed Iran for the attack, with Netanyahu himself stating that “the agents of Iran who tried to assassinate me and my wife today made a bitter mistake.” The premier emphasized that he would not be deterred and that the Iranians and their partners would “pay a heavy price”.
Netanyahu’s strong response was echoed by Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz, who directly blamed Iran for the attack on Twitter. Katz emphasized that Israel would continue to strike terrorists and their supporters, exposing Iran’s true intentions ¹.
However, the Iranian embassy to the UN denied any involvement in the attack, stating that Hezbollah was responsible.
A spokesman for the mission told the Wall Street Journal that the “action in question has been carried out by Hezbollah in Lebanon”.
This incident marks the second attempt by Iranian proxies to target Netanyahu in recent months.
In September, Houthi rebels in Yemen launched a ballistic missile toward the Ben Gurion International Airport as Netanyahu was returning from the UN. The missile was intercepted.
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant condemned the attack, calling it an attempt “to harm the State of Israel and its governmental symbols.” Gallant assured that the security establishment would continue to attack any terrorist factor and strike with force any enemy that harmed or tried to harm Israel.
The international community is watching the situation closely, with concerns about escalating tensions in the region.
The incident has sparked debate about Iran’s involvement in regional conflicts and its support for proxy groups like Hezbollah.
The Middle East region remains a hotbed of tensions, with far-reaching implications for global security and stability.
