LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Jamaican Reggae Giants Everton Blender and Luciano are scheduled to arrive in the country on Saturday, 21 October, and on Thursday, 25 October respectively ahead of the most anticipated Reggae concert dubbed Jah Kings Reggae Jam Festival.
The festival is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 28 October 2023 at Gland Business Park in Lilongwe and the event will also bring together local reggae artists including the Black Missionaries Band, Blasto, Don Tarz, Queen Fyah, Chizmo, and many others.
Speaking in an interview Jah Kings Promotions Member Richard Chisala said they have already secured air tickets for both Luciano and Everton Blender and they will arrive through Kamuzu International Airport on the said dates.
Chisala said the event is aimed at celebrating Reggae and bringing together reggae music lovers on an international level.
“This is a movement designed to celebrate reggae music and foster unity among reggae enthusiasts. This concert also aims to create international exposure by uniting artists from Jamaica (The Reggae Motherland) and Malawi (The Warm Heart of Africa) while supporting the Rastafari Movement’s call for financial backing in its socio-economic development endeavors,” he said
He said people should expect a great event that will put Malawi on the map as far as reggae music is concerned.
He, however, added that attending the event means more than enjoying incredible music it also signifies love towards the Rastafarian community and reggae music.
One of the artists Don Tarz said he cannot wait to meet and interact with international reggae giants for him to learn from their experiences.
He said currently he is immersed in massive rehearsals in order to dish out the best performance during the day.
Tickets for the event are currently on sale at area 18 Puma filling station, Maula Puma, Nitel Offices, Engen Filling Station in Kawale, and Khwezy Bus offices at Gateway Mall among other places.
