Jessie Kabwira bails out hailstorms victims in Salima, calls for urgent assistance

Member of Parliament for Salima North-West, Dr. Jessie Kabwira has appealed for an urgent help towards over 55 families being affected by hailstorms which hit GVH Mwadyakale in Traditional Authority (T.A) Nkhombedza on February 27.

Parliamentarian Kabwira made the appeal on Sunday when she toured the victims as she offered them assorted items as a relief including plastic sheets, bags of maize and beans.

 

She said the hailstorms has made families homeless as their houses were blown off which eventually have disrupted farming activities and school going children hence an appeal for help.

“My visit to this area is to be with my people such that the little offered to them might ease the pain. These are hard moments which need all Malawians to unite and help these people regardless of their region, tribe hence such an appeal for urgent support”, says Kabwira.

She said the support needed for the victims ranges from foods, sanitary materials, utensils, plastics sheets which would eventually help the to recover the lost items caused by the hailstorms.

After receiving the items, Florence Maminjoro, one of the affected families said the items would ease the burden the hailstorms caused as she might renovate again her house roof which was blown off but requested for more help.

“We are very grateful to the assistance brought by our Member of Parliament. This is a needful thing we always expect from our leaders when are in trouble. Therefore, we also appeal to other well-wishers to come to her rescue as she can’t do it alone”, delighted Kaminjoro.

Meanwhile, Salima district council has offered a tent to most affected families while its analyzing the cost of damages hailstorms has caused.
