Joyce Banda is losing the only vocal supporter of the Peoples Party in Malawi Mr Kenneth Msonda who we hold in high regard at the Maravi Post. In the past we have had our differences with Kenneth, Yes Kenneth because we see him as a friend of this publication. Whatever we feel about Mr Msonda and his sometimes manic behavior and actions, we believe Kenneth to be an honest person.
We excused his behavior when he wielded a Panga threatening to resolve a car parking dispute with a driver. We have also excused his odd reasoning when he then blamed the DPP for his bad behavior. However he called us to the Carpet when he thought our reporters were attacking former President Joyce Banda unfairly on Cashgate and her long absence from the country.
Today we hear that Kenneth Msonda has tendered his sincerely resignation from the Peoples Party. According to our reporters in Blantyre the following is the resignation he tendered:
MEMORANDUM TO: Her Excellency Dr. Joyce Banda Founder and President Peoples Party
FROM: The Publicity Secretary Peoples Party DATE: 02nd February, 2016.
Your Excellency, with due respect, with no hard feelings, I hereby tender my resignation as Acting Administrative Secretary of the party. However I still remain your loyal, dedicated and obedient political son heading the Publicity Directorate of the party as Publicity Secretary.
I feel have failed my duties and performed poorly as administrative Secretary especially to resolve misunderstandings currently affecting our party since I was appointed, I therefore take responsibility and the best way democratically and as a matter of principal have no option but to step down to give way to a more capable person to take over.
Please Your Excellency take it from my heart of Hearts, do not misunderstand me, my resignation has NOTHING to do with the firing of Rev. Christopher Mzomera Ngwira, and I am 101% behind the decision to fire him from the party.
You May recall Your Excellency that I was the first victim of his barbaric, savagery and undemocratic line of thinking in handling matters when you have different of opinion in the party. I believe CONTACT AND DIALOGUE is the best way to resolve differences and if one engages in physical confrontation and intimidation expulsion is the ONLY option.
Even in religious cycles (Churches and Mosques) we expel members who do not adhere to rules and regulations of that particular religion. I have in mind Your Excellency, if it pleases you, Hon Joseph Chikwemba who was deputy to Hon Rev. Peter Kaleso to take over, am sure he can handle the job well. I thank Your Excellency for trusting me and bestowed upon me this challenging responsibility and opportunity to head the Administrative Directorate of our party.
I thank you for your parental Spirit; advice, guidance and directive, you made my job so easy and enjoyable. May our good Lord richly bless you?
I would, in the same vain also like to thank the party’s Politburo, in particular the Acting President Hon Uladi Mussa MP, the Vice President – finance Hon Ralph Jooma MP & the Secretary General Hon Ibrahim Matola for their brotherly Spirit; support, advice and guidance; what dedicated and blessed men of God we have in Peoples Party.
Lastly though not list, members and staff of Peoples Party across the country, it was exciting interacting with them as Administrative Secretary.
