LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The leading tobacco buyers in the world, Japanese Tobacco International (JTI) Malawi Chapter, celebrated end of the season party at Inspector General’s Ground at National Police Headquarters in Area 30, Lilongwe on Friday, 2022.
During the celebration the company organized Sporting activities which included Football, Netball, Volleyball, Pool among others.
In sports, workers who work per season competed in inter shifts in Football Shift A defeated GLS 1-0 to win the 2022 championship and each player went home with shopping Voucher Worthy MK25,000,medal and a trophy for the team.
GLS players received MK15,000 vouchers and medals for finishing second. In Netball, Shift B were crowned champions after collecting more points over Shift A.
They also went home with MK25,000 vouchers each with a trophy for the team and medals.
The chairman of the organizing committee Godfrey Chimbalanga described the event as colourful.He hailed all teams who emerged winners and encouged the losers to work hard next season.
“We are grateful hosting this event today having failed to do the same since 2019 due to COVID-19 pandemic.
“JTI Malawi conducts this event annually to thank our workers who are on a season contract to interact and share their experience”,
“This year’s event has been colorful with new experience, we wish our workers well as they go for holiday”,Chimbalanga said.
JTI Malawi buy tobacco from over 8,500 farmers who are on contract across the country.
