Blantyre, September 9, 2015—Sponsors of country’s top flag league, Premier mobile network operator, TNM is proud to announce that all is set to launch the 2015 Super League second round at Chitowe ground in Nkhotakota.

The launch of the elite football competition in the country, which is now pegged at K90 million, is set to be exciting with the league’s theme this year focuses on the player who is the main entertainer of the game but welfare is oftentimes compromised.

“After successful completion of the first round, we shall be celebrating the game of football with the fans in Nkhotakota and surrounding areas as the second round of the league rolls into life.

 

As sponsors, TNM is happy that the first round went on very well and we have seen improvement in standards of the game. It is our hope that as we draw closer identifying the champion, the level of competition shall get higher and the games will become even more exciting” said Makata.

However Makata called on all stakeholders to resist from any act of violence that could tarnish the good image of football in the country.

“Though there has been a drop in incidences of hooliganism but still more we experienced some unfortunate incidents leading to the eventual death of an innocent soul in the first round. We expect teams and their fans to be disciplined so that we can completely eradicate hooliganism from football,” he said.

TNM Chief Commercial Officer said the re-launch theme still focuses on the uplifting competitiveness of the game and the welfare of the players.

“We shall re-launch under the theme; Our Players, Our Heroes, Our Pride. This is meant to build the spirit of motivating the player who is the hero of our beautiful game In line with this theme, the player is the main reason why TNM decided to increase the sponsorship value from K65 million to K90 million. You will note that team and individual awards have increased significantly,” he said

To mark the launch of the second round league, the country’s top mobile phone company has lined up a number of activities aimed at creating fun and entertainment. Among the activities, there will be music performances by Sir Lucius Banda and Zembani Band above all the unveiling of a new league trophy.

“We have lined up a number of activities to spice the launch, there will be music performances parade and acrobatics by Malawi Army among others before the match between the giants of Malawi football, Big Bullets FC and Mafco FC this will accord fans the chance to interact with the sponsor and the players,” said Makata.
