Kanengo police beef up security a head of the festive season

Thieves and robbers around the Kanengo industrial area including locations in the capital Lilongwe should brace for tough time during this coming festive season-Christmas and New Year following security gears donation to Kanengo Police Station.

The donation is part of contribution from companies and individuals through Joint Patrol Initiative which the police station is working closely with communities in a bid to reduce crime rates especially during festive season.

 

Security gears donated including 1000 litres of fuel, 147 reflector jackets, 125 whistles, soft drinks and MK120, 000 cash is expected to serve the station’s geographical operation areas including Area 25, 49, 28, 50, 51, Mtandire, Mgona, Msungwi, Mtema, Lumbadzi which also caters with four Traditional Authorities (T.As) Mtema, Chitukula, M’bang’ombe and Chimutu in Lilongwe district.

Speaking to The Maravi Post on Friday, December 18 after receiving the security gears, Senior Assistant Commissioner Denis Katuya who is also the Police In-Charge for Kanengo station expressed gratitude over the donation saying law enforcers task of protecting lives a properties will be tranquil.

Commissioner Katuya emphasized the need for communities working closely with the police in order to combat crime which is usually manifested during festive season, assuring the communities that law enforcers would do their best to protect people’s lives and properties.

“The station is very grateful for the timely security gear donation which will go along well in serving the general public lives and properties on the upcoming festive season-Christmas and New Year even a week also aftermath.

“We will make sure that gears are shared equally to all zones under the station jurisdiction that people are protected. We won’t spare anyone who tends to break the law during this festive season. Our, campaign will go into churches, homes, social gathering for the effective implementation. We want to create a safe environment for
community to enjoy their holidays comfortably in their homes.

“The station therefore appeals to the general public to corporate with the law enforcers and community policing members on any suspicion of strange faces in their localities such that the venture should be successful. They must make sure that their homes are rocked or someone is left to man the affairs of the house in a bid to keep their properties safe”, appeals Commissioner Katuya.

Albert Kamalo, Kanengo Police Station Joint Patrol Initiative (JPI) Vice Chairperson who delivered security gears on behalf of individuals and industrial companies assured the station that the grouping was still soliciting more resources a head of the festive season that this year’s venture was to be successful.

Adding the voice, Traditional Authority (T.A), M’bang’ombe applauded the station and JPI for the continue engaging traditional leaders assuring them provision of proper information on suspected individuals who might terrorize their villages as way to address theft and robbery.
